We are excited to kick off our season of events with a Fall Welcome panel for incoming graduate students (or anyone who is feeling like they need a fresh start this Fall!):
“WiSEdom: Advice from WiSE on Surviving and Thriving in Graduate School“
August 25th, 3:30 – 5:30 pm
The Bartlett Science Communication Center
SEEC C215 (on East Campus)
Join us for an informal discussion with four senior graduate students who will share their wisdom and advice for a successful graduate school experience, with a welcome word from Dean of Graduate School, Ann Schmiesing. The hour-long panel will be followed by a reception from 4:30 to 5:30 pm.
Please invite your friends and help spread the word to first-year graduate students. RSVP here
if you are planning to attend. All genders and years welcome!
The WiSE coaching program, which pairs grad students and postdocs with STEM professionals, celebrated the end of the 2016-2017 program at the Rayback Collective. Over some delicious arepas and Middle Eastern food from Boulder food trucks, we heard about some wonderful connections that were made through the program. Thank you to all the mentees and mentors that participated in this year’s program!
Please join us for the next Women in Science & Engineering seminar this Friday, March 10, from 12:30 to 1:30 pm in JSCBB B231. We are honored to host Dr. Carolyn Brinkworth, the Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion offer for UCAR/NCAR. Her talk is titled “Intersectional Diversity in Science: Creating Diverse and Inclusive Departments and Institutions.” Dr. Brinkworth will share insight from her own professional path and will lead us in an engaging discussion on working toward diversity and inclusion in our STEM communities. Coffee and pastries will be served following the seminar. See the flyer below for more details about this exciting event!
